Primary 2 have been learning about subitizing this week, and are using their number knowledge to recognise which number is being shown by looking at a set! This has helped with simple calculations as they are able to recognise the numbers without counting.
If you would like to learn more ask us about it at home, or follow the link below to see what we have been doing in class!
P2a have worked incredibly hard this term! We have had our school show, STEM week, the Tesco football tournament and it all ended on Thursday with a Easter egg hunt!
Have an amazing holiday everyone!
Primary 2 had a special visit from Megan last week who told us all about the Maasai people. We loved having her in and we learned lots about the Maasai tribe in Tanzania. We then made our own Maasai themed jewellery, using bring colours and patterns. Ask us about what we have learned so far!
Over the past couple of weeks, primary 2 have been looking at a range of Scots poems. Everyone learned and performed their chosen poem to the class, and some performed in front of Primary 1-4 at our Burns achievement assembly last week. The class have been looking at ‘Nessie’ and identifying the Scots words in the poem. They then used their sewing skill to make their very own Nessie toys, which were stuck onto their drawings of Lock Ness. Well done for ‘sticking at it’ primary 2, I know this was the first time many of you have used a needle and thread.
Primary 2a have been ‘teaching their monsters to read’ using a new website this week. The site is full of games and activities which help the pupils with their reading skills by practicing a range of sound combinations such as ‘ch’ or ‘ng’. The pupils will go on to cover tricky words and complete comprehension questions about what they have read. Every pupil has their own log in so can continue their journey from where they left of the pervious week. Well done everyone for working hard on the laptops this week!
P2a had a great time in the snow this morning. We all hope it continues into the weekend so we can enjoy it!
P2a have began their 6 week block of Gymnastics this term, and are working really hard to perfect the moves. The pupils then made their own sequence using the new positions and moves, and performed them to the class. Make sure to ask your children about what we have been learning!
All the boys and girls enjoyed watching the Polar Express this afternoon as a Christmas treat!
P2 have been working very hard making all kinds of Christmas crafts. Here are some of the handmade and decorated cards the pupils have been making, hopefully some of you will receive these as a special Christmas treat!
