It was the last day of Scottish Dancing today. The boys and girls learnt three new dances and were showing off their skills today. We had great fun and even completed a full class Virginia Reel – well done! 🙂

We had great fun this morning competing in the Christmas quiz with the P7 class. There were 2 winning teams so it went down to a nail biting final question round between the 2 teams.

Recently, in class we have been enjoying the challenge of cracking Mathanagrams for our mathematical starter. As a class we decided to make up our very own Mathanagrams to challenge other pupils, friends and family at home. We also made some festive themed anagrams. Primary 7 were off to their Christmas Lunch at the White Cart today. All boys and girls had a great time eating delicious food and were exemplar pupils representing Busby Primary School.

This morning we counted up the final takings for the Virgin Money Make £5 grow campaign and the year group made a fantastic profit of £599!!! Well done to everyone (including parents 🙂 ) who took part and spent lots of time at home making their wonderful crafts and games. Extra well done to “The Winter Wonders”  who made the most profit of £92.80 .

We were making Pandas in Mandarin this afternoon. P6/7 had to cut, stick and fold paper to form the shape. The children were learning the colours and how to say black and white. 

Today was the first morning of Virgin Money. Primary 7 had their selling hats on and were encouraging people to buy their products. Keep the hard work up Primary 7. 

We have been investigating the buoyancy and density of different everyday items through science experiments. Today, we were investigating what would happen if we dropped raisins into soda water. The results were amazing – the raisins were ‘dancing’.

We noticed that the raisins sank at first this was due to their density. However, because raisins have a dented surface and rough texture it means that they are filled with air pockets. These air pockets attracted the carbon dioxide gas in the liquid, creating little bubbles on the raisins. The carbon dioxide increases the volume of each raisin; therefore, the density of the raisins was lowered…

Primary 7 received their £5 from Virgin Money today. The boys and girls have been working hard to make products that they think will be sellable to other pupils and visitors to the school. I cannot wait to see how far the £5 will go. Good luck to everyone, let the selling begin!

In class today we were investigating whether objects would sink or float. We were learning how density and buoyancy can affect our experiment. As a class we decided to ensure we had a fair test we dropped our items from the same height and the same water. However, we decided to explore if our results would alter if we used a different solution to drop our objects in.  We were able to determine whether the objects were less or more dense than the amount of water.
