Em & Hattie’s Friday Morning Spring Service

Safe to say that Ant and Dec should be quaking in their boots – ‘Em & Hattie’s Friday Morning Spring Service’ was a resounding success! I would like to say a huge thank you to the boys and girls in P6 for their hard work in learning lines and taking stage directions. Given the very busy term that we have had, we were not as well rehearsed as I would have liked but we pulled it out of the bag on the day.
Have a very well deserved holiday with your family and friends and I look forward to welcoming you all back for your final term before P7 – exciting times!

Hear what we’re ‘Sway-ing’!

we spent the morning remembering how to access our GLOW accounts and getting hands-on with Microsoft Office Online – Sway in particular.

Sway is a bit like PowerPoint but in the same way a Ford is like a Ferrari! We created our own Sways about a range of topics and explored aiding text, images and videos.

We can’ t wait to use Sway again to evidence our learning.

The Pop Up Planetarium

This afternoon we journeyed inside the Pop Up Planetarium to learn about the stars. What a unique experience – a lot different from our normal exploits in the Gym Hall! We learned that the stars are different colours according to how old they are. We also learned that the colour of light that they emit is related to the speed at which they are moving in relation to us. We even got to handle a meteor!

The Force Awakens….. for STEM Week!

STEM Week was launched with full force this morning, unveiling this years theme………….Star Wars!

At our whole school assembly, Mrs McLean introduced the theme and the various challenges for the week.  The pupils were played a video message from Darth Vader and were surprised by a visit from two of the movies characters.

The Euro Quizzers

Congratulations to the P6 Euro Quiz team – Adam, Emma, Susannah, Natasha and Maya – who placed second in the East Renfrewshire heat of the Euro Quiz organised by the Scottish European Educational Trust. The team has been studying for weeks under the expert tutelage of Miss Macrae – a big thank you to her and also to Mrs Oswald for instructing the team in P7 French.

Health and Wellbeing

Our Health and Wellbeing topic this term is Substance Misuse. As part of our learning we have been considering the differences between prescription drugs and illegal drugs. We would like to say a big thank you to Dr.McLennan – known to a lot of us as Emma’s Dad – for coming in to answer our questions.
