Bookbug

Primary 1 enjoyed their visit to Busby Library yesterday to receive their Bookbug bags. We read all three of the stories, One Button Benny, I am Bat and Eric Makes a Splash, and we will be voting for our favourite in a couple of weeks.

As part of Book Week Scotland, we will also be taking part in a competition to design a book cover – check back here next week to see some of our fabulous entries!

International Week

Primary 1 had a great time this week learning about Japan as part of International Week.

We had a visit from Skye’s mum, who showed us how to make origami cups and later in the week we made origami monster bookmarks in class. We also recreated Hokusai’s famous painting, The Wave, and tried our hand at Japanese calligraphy.

Miss Paisey and Miss Wight were really impressed by the homework submissions, lots of children did fantastic research and pictures. Well done!

Halloween

Have a look at some of the spooky activities we have being doing this week!

We loved writing our own potions, decorating ‘pumpkins’ and making pumpkin lanterns.

P1 Assembly

P1a and P1b had our assembly on Wednesday 31st October. We worked so hard learning our lines and our songs, and we loved being able to share our learning with our families. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Programming Dot and Dash

Primary 1a had lots of fun this morning meeting and programming robots, Dot and Dash! We were amazed at the sounds and moves the robots could make – the silly dance and the animal noises were our favourites! We can’t wait to use Dot and Dash again soon.

First Library Visit

On Friday, P1a enjoyed their first visit to Busby Library. Here are some photos of us listening to stories with Peter and reading the books we have chosen.

We are looking forward to our next visit in a couple of weeks!

Farm Trip

Primary 1 had a fantastic time at our trip to the farm today. We saw lots of animals and especially enjoyed our workshop where we learned to make butter by shaking jars of cream!

Roald Dahl Day

On Thursday 13th September, P1 celebrated Roald Dahl day.  We learnt all about the author and his books and discovered that he would have been 102 years old this year!

We had lots of fun working out our Roald Dahl character names. Some of our favourites were The Wondercrump Hornswaggler, The Squibbling Blabbersnitch and The Gloriumptious Human Bean.  Use the link here if you would like to find out yours!

We drew pictures of our Roald Dahl characters and our P7 buddies came and helped us with the writing. We created some fabulous stories together!

Happy Roald Dahl day!

Outdoor Learning

We have been busy practising  our letter and number formation outside. We used chalk, water and paintbrushes, and natural materials to create the letters and numbers that we have been learning.

Welcome to Our Blog!

We are all really excited about the new school year and all the fantastic learning we will be involved in.  We hope to post some of the activities, learning and events we experience on our Class Blog.
