Spelling

Usual spelling homework, all words written three times plus two activity spelling strategies of your choice. Nessy spelling will be issued on Wednesday and Thursday as normal.

Reading

Can all groups please finish their books for Friday, please. We’ve been focusing on fact and opinion so see if you can find any hidden opinions in your reading books. The facts should be easier to identify!

Maths

All groups have been issued with their mental maths grid. Please complete this as normal.

Art

Thank you so much for all the household packaging donations so far! Please keep anything further coming our way.

Open Afternoon

Primary 5 invite you to join us in class for an Open Afternoon on Wednesday 15th January between 2-3pm! A selection of experiences linked to our new topic will be available to enjoy during this session. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Hello all!

I hope you all had a very relaxing and restful Christmas break. It has been a pleasure to see the class again and hear all  about their amazing time off. My apologies for the delay in this first blog post of the new year, I blame first week forgetfulness! Please find this week’s homework listed below.

Art

At the start of this week Primary 5 voted for their new topic to be The Vikings! Some of their fabulous ideas for learning experiences included creating our own Viking shields, longboats and longhouses. In order to do this we will need any old any unused cardboard, cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, plastic bottles or any old food packaging from home! Can you please send in any unwanted household packaging that we could use for our junk modelling experiences over the next couple of weeks. Thank you.

Profiling

Maths homework has been replaced with Profiling homework this week. In class we have been working on adding a literacy, maths and HWB section to talk about our learning in term 1. For homework can you please make sure that each of these three sections has been completed. We have spent a lot of time looking at exemplar entries and creating a Success Criteria  in class so all learners are very confident with what their profile entries should look like. The exemplars and Success Criteria have been shared with learners on OneDrive so that these can be referenced from home.

 

Christmas Jumper Day 

Friday is Christmas Jumper day so for just £1 you can come into school wearing your Christmas Jumper. All money raised will go to Save the Children!

Apologies for the very belated homework blog post this week! Lovely primary 5 inform me that they’ve been pressing on with their usual homework, so thank you to them for their maturity!

Maths

Please complete 10 minutes per night of hit the button. Please do a mixture of tables practising both multiplication and division.

P.E. 

Now that our swimming block has come to an end our P.E. slot has changed. P.E. will now take place on Monday (usual time) and on Friday after lunch (change from Thursday morning). If all children could please come to school with P.E. kits on these days please.

Please find a table of costumes below. Discussion has been had in class about each costume but please contact me with any questions.

Rayyan – Jeans, hoody, sun glasses and hat

Amna – dress

Adam – Jeans and shirt

Host Isobel – Dress/outfit discussed

Liam – Smart trousers, shirt and tie

Dancers Full school uniform with shirt and tie

Plus ONE party-type prop, for example a hat, sunglasses, scarf.

Other News

In preparation for the School Fare on Saturday, Friday will be a dress as you please in exchange for a tombola prize!

Learning Assembly

All lines for the Learning Assembly were issued last week. Please make sure that these are learned for as soon as possible. Last week primary 5 agreed that learning lines for Wednesday 20th was a good aim as this gives us just under a week to practise without our scripts. If anyone needs spare lines please see me. Also please refer to next blog post about details of this exciting event!

Beep Beep! Day

The JRSOs have arranged Beep Beep! Day to learn about and promote road safety. Please come to school wearing some form of stripes (trousers or top, remaining clothing should still be school uniform.) Traffic light biscuits will be available to buy at tuck.

Talent Show!

Our House Voting session is to take place on Wednesday morning. Each House will get together to vote for their favourite five talents. These acts will then perform at the Talent Competition next Tuesday. Can all acts please bring in what they need for Wednesday.

Other

Flu immunisation is also scheduled to take place this Thursday. Please see letter issued last week for more information.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Parents Evening this Wednesday and Thursday.

Our Book Fair slot will also take place this Thursday afternoon.  Children will come home with a note of their preferred book and its price and all money can be handed in to the office.
