We are enjoying practising our spelling words in primary two so far. Each week we have a different spelling sound. Some of our sounds have been, ‘ar’ ‘qu’ ‘th’ ‘ch’ ‘ng’ and ‘sh’. On the third week we revise our last two sets of spelling words. When we are practising we write our words using bubble writing, and rainbow writing. We also write our words on whiteboards and use play-doh to make the words. This helps us to remember how to spell the words.
Ross – “I like spelling my words out of play-doh because play-doh is squashy.”
Olivia – “I like rainbow writing because it’s fun.”
Alyssa – “I like doing bubble writing because I like drawing and colouring.”
Ryan – “I like writing on my whiteboard because I like the thick and thin whiteboard pens and the whiteboard rubbers.”
In Literacy we have been learning to write a list for our class party. We had to choose 7 children from our class and our favourite Mr. Men character for our guest list.
We had to use bullet points and organise under a title. We know that proper names begin with a capital letter. Ruby successfully created her party list.
We will be able to use these skills when we organise another event.
Harvey sequenced this story in the correct order. He selected one sentence from the story to copy and then wrote his own sentences to complete the story.
We have been learning to write personal news copying an opening sentence from the board and adding a sentence on our own. Alyssa has been successful because she has written a common word, used finger spaces, sounded out words on her own and used a full stop.
P.1a have been learning about people who help us in school. We interviewed Elaine ,the cook, Mrs Gaught from the office, Mrs Rennie the P.S.A and Gerry the lollipop man. We used our listening skills to hear all about their jobs.
We observed them carefully to help us to draw very good pictures of all the people who help us. Here is Elaine ,the cook.
