Primary 6 have been spending lots of time outside today as it is Outdoor Classroom Day.
We completed our comprehension activities and moved about as we identified literal, inferential and evaluative questions.
During our maths problem solving we were all working on measure.
Some of the groups were measuring trees and others were challenged to find a stick exactly half the length of another.
In the afternoon we were back out for the daily mile! We were really pleased that the weather was dry.
Working together to answer inferential questions.
Interesting way to measure trees!
Finding sticks and measuring tree heights.
We have been learning how to create animations using I Can Animate software.
We were challenged to create our own settings which we uploaded and used as our background. We then created characters which had travel through our setting.
We have nearly finshed them and will be uploading them soon.
We have also been sharing our learning with Primary Two and we have been helping them to create their own jungle animations.
We enjoyed helping our fiends in Primary Two, their animations are really coming on and theirjungle drawings look fantastic.
Primary 3 have been learning about the ancient civilisation the Egyptians.
We have been using our research skills to find out about people from the past using artefacts, reference texts and websites.
We have discovered a lot of facts about the ancient Egyptians and discussed similaries and differences.
As part of our reading we have been exploring facts and opinions.
A fact is something which can be proven wheras an opinion is how you feel and it can change.
We created fact and opinion boards to present our learning. We asked our peers to identify which statements were facts and which were opinions.
Fact
The ancient Egyptians made paper from the paypyrus plant.
Opinion
The pyramids are the most beautiful buildings.

We have been enjoying Big Writing this term and producing fantastic informative writing linked to our science topic and reading.
We have been researching the lifecycle of honeybees and finding out about food chains. We have been highlighting and making notes which include important information and key vocabulary.
We have then used our notes to help us create fascinating fact files and interesting reports.
Already we have had a number of star writers although Mrs Murdoch has found it hard to choose only 2 each week.
Lucie and Nathan both wrote informative reports about Honeybees. They included important information and key vocabulary.
We are all working hard on our spelling and enjoy during active spelling tasks in class and in P.E.
We are all making good progress and aiming to get to the top of our spelling bee chart.
Ryan got 10 spelling bee points for completing lots of active spelling tasks in class and Olivia has buzzed into the lead for writing fantastic and interesting sentences.
Well done!
This term our topic is a novel study. We are reading the Owl who was afraid of the dark. So far we heave read one chapter. The first chapter was called ‘Dark is exciting’. Plop is the main character in the story and he is scared of the dark. In the story Plop met a boy who said that dark was exciting because of fireworks in the sky. This inspired us to make our own firework pictures. We did this by creating scratch art fireworks. Kai said that all of the colors that came through were really beautiful.

Gerry the Lollypop Man came to our class and read us a story to help us celebrate World Book Day. We really enjoyed his visit. Primary 4 visited us with their favourite books and every child paired up and primary 1 listened to them reading. Both classes found this a valuable learning experience and hope to do it again soon.
Mia wrote this piece of writing independently. She has shown she can write in sentences using capital letters and full stops. Great work!!
