Ice Cream Sundaes

In class, we were given the choice of working independently or with a partner to produce a collage of an ice-cream sundae. Our first task was to plan what we wanted our sundae to look like, and produce an annotated plan. These are our plans:

Sophie Paige Joseph & Ewan Jeanie James & Ryan Harley & Jordan Emma & Jessica Elise & Aimee Chloe & Jamie Charlie Beth Amber

After we had completed our plans, we began to construct our 3D collages using materials such as pom-poms, straws, cotton wool, buttons, pipe cleaners, ribbon. The choices were endless!

We are very proud of our Ice Cream Sundaes and they make a lovely display in our corridor. You can see them below. We hope you like them.

World Book Day – 3 March

World Book Day was on Thursday 3 March. We had a lovely time when boys and girls from Miss Macdonald’s Primary 7 class came to read to us.

We heard a variety of stories such as Thumbelina, Rapunzel, Under the Skin and Jack and The Beanstalk. We also listened to poems from the Ring of Words Anthology. Mark and Elliot also SANG a book to us – Miss McDonald had a class!

Thank you to Jamie and Chloe, Elliot and Mark, Charlie, Victoria and Heather, Archie and Lauren, Ethan, Callum, and Cameron. We really appreciated you doing this for us!

Later in the afternoon, we had to take part in a scavenger hunt where we had to look for certain characters, animals and items, such as a happy ending, a mystery, a moral lesson which can be learned etc.,  in books and say where we found them.

It was an enjoyable day!

Our Senses

As part of out topic about  Senses and Vibrations and Waves, we have learned that humans have five senses: hearing, touch, taste, smell and sight.

To understand these, we had to work in pairs to research our chosen sense. We made bulleted lists and annotated diagrams in our jotters. After that we had to design a poster to share the information that we had discovered.

Now, our next job is to investigate sound. Look out for further posts about this, as we find out more!

Scottish Assembly

On Friday 29 January, our school held a Scotland-themed assembly. On the 25 of January it was Robert Burns’ the anniversary of birthday, so each class decided to perform a Scottish song, or some Scottish poetry. We also had some girls who did some fabulous Highland dancing.

You can listen to our performance here. Both primary 5 classes sang together. We are very proud of our work.
