Dounans

in March some of the P7 pupils went on a residential trip to Dounans Outdoor Centre. We stayed there for 5 days and did lots of outdoor activities. We had a brilliant time!

Some of the activities that we took part in were:

  • Burn Scramble- walking through a burn.
  • Cat Walk- climbing a tree and walking across a log in the air, then jumping off.
  • Archery
  • Leap of Faith- climbing up a pole and jumping off.
  • Raft building
  • Mountain exploration
  • Night line- walking in a line in blindfolds through an assault course.

Throughout the week we learnt to have confidence in ourselves, become more responsible and independent and overcome our fears.

Life of a Christian- Parables

We have been exploring the life of David Livingstone who was a Christian missionary from Glasgow who dedicated his life to helping Africans and abolishing slavery.

He taught them about Christianity by telling them parables using a light box. We explored variety of different parables that David Livingstone told.

We discussed the lessons and values within these stories and then we created storyboards and an animation utilizing our ICT skills

We are going to add in credits and music and then retell the parables to our younger peers.

Here is an example of our work in progress:

Bienvenue!

Our first two weeks in Primary 6 have been great. We have introduced a class novel called “Why the Whales Came” by Michael Morpurgo. We are particularly interested in finding more about the character ‘Birdman.’ We have also learned about the Isles of Scilly and managed to point them out on a map. We have been learning some new French phrases and revisiting French clothing and numbers. We are really enjoying it so far. Some of our class have learned to find the perimeter of a shape, some have learned to tell the time and others have learned more about division. Each morning, we have been reading “Billionaire Boy” by David Walliams, it is really funny. Thank you for reading our class blog, where we will keep you updated on our class work.

Welcome to Term 4!

Hello everyone! Can hardly believe it is term 4 already! We are all really excited about our challenges for this term. As a class, some of the things we plan to do are:

  • improve our comprehension skills
  • improve our levels in 50-a-day
  • rise to Mrs Black’s “Good to be Gold” challenge

Many of us are also looking forward to taking part in the Bikeability scheme which Mrs Melville is running.

Also, we can’t wait to be in Primary 6!

Not long now!
