Some of the primary 7 pupils took photographs of the work that is being done in our school grounds. We are very lucky to have some new raised beds. I wonder what we’ll plant in them?

Wonder
In literacy, we have been discussing the book Wonder. It tells the story of a boy called August who has a facial disfigurement and about his life at home and at school. The book is very powerful and emotional, it discusses topics about friendship, love and loyalty. Throughout the book, Mr Brown (Auggie’s English Teacher) writes a precept for each day, like “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
Christmas Fayre Enterprise
We really enjoyed making marshmallow snowmen to sell at the Christmas Fayre. We also used smarties for the eyes, an oreo and a rolo for the hat and a strawberry lace for the scarf. We had to calculate the total cost of the ingredients and then we worked out how much each snowman would cost to make. After that we discussed how much we could sell each snowman for and how much profit this would allow us to make. We made posters to advertise the Christmas Fayre and our snowmen. The finished snowmen were very successful and were sold out quickly.
Bubblegum and Fluff
Priamry 7A, 7B and Primary 6 were invited to attend the Bubblegum and Fluff event at St Andrew’s church on Monday 11th December 2017. During this event we explored the meaning of Christmas through games, drama, storytelling, craft and songs. We all had a fabulous time and we are very grateful to the members of the congregation who gave up their time to welcome us into their church. The Bubblegum and Fluff song was so catchy that we are still singing it!
Flip Out Trampoline Park
Primary 7A, 7B and Primary 6 were extremely lucky to visit Flip Out Trampoline Park in Glasgow for a free hour long jumping session. What a talented group of children we have!We were very impressed with some of the jumping sequences that were being performed. Thanks to Miss Graham for arranging this fantastic visit.
Imaginative Writing
We have been improving our imaginative writing skills this term. In particular we challenged ourselves to use more ambitious and descriptive vocabulary to set the scene and also to describe our characters. We also used the five points of characterisation to help us to invent more believable characters. We wrote three pieces of imaginative writing- The Lighthouse, The House in the Woods and The Blitz.
Homefront Histories
Primary 7 had a fabulous day when Mr Bowen from Homefront Histories visited us. He brought lots of original artefacts from WW2 and turned the two classrooms into a museum. We moved around the different stations in our groups and found out some extremely interesting information about the war. We also have some wonderful photographs of us working in our groups and wearing some of the army uniforms. In the afternoon we went outside to use the manual air raid siren and we sang some WW2 songs. It was an amazing day!
