Inheritance

As part of our transition to high school we learned about chromosomes and DNA. We know that our family can carry genes that they don’t use but can pass to their children. We investigated how this would work on fictional characters called Reebops. We chose alleles without looking so it was up to chance. That’s how we created our Reebop babies.

During our visit to high school we used gel electrophoresis to identify a wizard’s magical genes.

Solar System – Sharing our knowledge

We have been learning about Space in Science.

We linked our learning with Technologies and used a search engine to research information with our partners.

We then worked collaboratively to produce PowerPoint presentations in ICT.

We presented our PowerPoint’s to the P3/2 class as we are working jointly with them on a Science assembly.

Here is the presentation produced by Georgia and Aidan. We thought about our young audience and made sure that we used child friendly language in our presentations.

Primary 3/2 very were good at answering the quiz questions and were able to remember some of the facts that they learned.

Solar system animation

In Science we have been learning about the Solar system.

We linked our learning to Technologies and in ICT we used a software package called  I Can Animate to create animations linked to the Solar System.

We worked collaboratively with partners to combine our animations into a short movie with some text and some music.

Here is an animation created by Stefan and Rudi.
