Both Primary 7 classes worked together to create these amazing reebops. The reebop has inherited characteristics from each of its parents. We were amazed at the differences in our finished reebops and we enjoyed naming them.
Lego Mindstorm
Scots Verse
Both Primary 7 classes performed the poem ‘A Dug, A Dug’ by Bill Keys at the Tartan Assembly. They were absolutely fabulous and had a great response from the audience.
Well done to everyone!
Candle Making
P7 created their own candles. We learned that when wax is heated it melts and if you add crayons you can colour your candle. The wax was poured into a mould and then we had to be very patient while it cooled. As it cooled the wax became a solid again. We repeated this process to make different coloured layers of wax.
Lockerbie Manor 2016
In November 2016, p7a and p7b went to Lockerbie Manor. We got there and we got a tour of the manor, then we got taken to our dorms. All of us did the first activity which was games on the big field. Then we got dinner (the food was nice). After dinner we had a fire drill then an activity in the dark! My group were doing problem solving in the woods. It was good fun. Then we went to bed. In the morning we woke up and had breakfast then the hill walk. There was a lot of sheep and they stared at us! We walked for 3 hours!!!!!!!!
Pentagons Maths Group Term1
During term 1 the Pentagons Maths Group learned about fractions, decimals and percentages.
We understand that decimals are part of a whole number and can order decimal numbers and add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers with decimal numbers. We also learned rules to multiply by 10 and 100.
We can link decimals, fractions and percentages.
We also learned about 2D and 3D shapes. We learned the correct names of the shapes and the different terms – sides, angles, diagonals and lines of symmetry. We learned about different triangles and their properties.
We looked at the nets of shapes and the 2D shapes that went together to make 3D shapes.
Debating at East Renfrewshire Headquarters
The children of Primary 7 were invited by Provost Carmichael to hold a debate in the council chambers on Monday 10th October.
The pupils took on different roles. Some were councillors, some were members of the media and others were members of the public sitting in the gallery.
The motion that: “All children living in East Renfrewshire and in fulltime education should have free access to sports facilities in East Renfrewshire ” generated a lively debate and Councillor Robertson helped us to keep the debate moving.
At the end of the debate Provost Carmichael held a vote which was very close with the motion being defeated by 18 votes to 17 votes. We had a brilliant time and managed to use many of the persuasive literacy techniques that we have been developing in class.
Well done, everyone!
Mindmaps
We used the mindmapping technique to make notes about the services provided by East Renfrewshire Council. We enjoyed using different colours and also adding some visuals. Here are some of the finished examples.

Buoyancy- Boat Challenge
As part of our science topic on Buoyancy we were challenged to design a boat using recycled materials. Our boats also had to be able to hold a cargo. Some of us worked as part of a group and others chose to work independently. We really enjoyed designing the boats and sharing the finished boats with our peers.
