The Ballad of Janitor Mackay

Our class performed a Scottish poem in front of the school in memory of Robert Burns. We practised this poem for a whole week and we tried very hard to learn the actions and words. We think that the audience enjoyed it as we received a huge round of applause and many people laughed.

Christmas Animations

In P7 the children used their design skills to create an animated Christmas Card. They started by designing a background, then they created characters and then animated their characters. After finishing their animations they exported their movies to Movie Maker and added their titles and music. Mrs Black chose Cara’s animation to use for the school card and you can see it on the school website, click here. She had a hard decision choosing Cara’s because they were all extremely good. This card was created by Cameron and Mark.

Tonal Drawings of Bottles

Over four weeks, Primary 7 pupils focused on learning to draw bottles. Firstly we learned how to to draw ellipses and to notice how they change as they move away from eye level.

In our second lesson we learned how to use symmetry, geometric shapes and ellipses to draw a bottle.

In our third lesson we added tone using chalk and charcoal. We were very pleased by how three dimensional they looked.

Our final lesson was to draw a tonal still life picture using all the elements we had learned. It was very difficult but we have a number of very successful pictures.
