In P.E. we have been doing gymnastics. We have to do floor work and use the apparatus safely and responsibly. Some of us can climb the rope and hang from the bar. We can also do counter balances in different forms. We have been using the spring board the horse and the vault and been practising a through vault and straddle vault.

Lego Mindstorms
We went to Barrhead High to do a workshop on robots. We used software to write code to make the robots to do different things, uploaded the code to the robots and then checked the robots movements on a special track. Most of us were very successful and got a lot of challenges correct.
Perspective Pictures
We learned how to draw things that are getting further and further away using lines that go to a vanishing point. Our pictures are detailed and we have created a sense of distance.
Mandarin
It was fun learning how to write the numbers one to ten in Mandarin. We had to copy the characters carefully, it was more like drawing than writing. We also learned to write, “I love you.”
Basketball at Barrhead High
During a transition visit to Barrhead High we played basketball. We had to work together as a team and use throwing and catching, communication, dribbling and shooting to score.
World Book Day
On World Book Day we visited the primary 5 classes and read a variety of different books. Elliott and Mark sang their story choice and everyone else read clearly and with good expression.
Steven Thompson came to visit and read “Goodnight Mister Tom” and everyone really enjoyed listening.
Mandarin
In Mandarin we leaned a song. It is to the tune of Happy Birthday, it helps us learn the greetings.

The Ballad of Janitor Mackay
Our class performed a Scottish poem in front of the school in memory of Robert Burns. We practised this poem for a whole week and we tried very hard to learn the actions and words. We think that the audience enjoyed it as we received a huge round of applause and many people laughed.

Martin Niemöller Poems
As part of our Holocaust work, we looked at Martin Niemöller’s poem and we made our own poems in the same style as he did. We thought of common issues in the 21st Century and the importance of speaking out when things are wrong in the world we live in. We are proud of our poems and the teacher chose our poems we hope you like them. By Archie and Callum.
They Came
They came for the strangers.
I did nothing.
Because I don’t know them
They came for my friends.
I did nothing.
Because I was scared.
They came for my neighbours.
I did nothing.
Because it wasn’t me.
They came for my family.
I couldn’t do anything.
No one would help.
Then they came for me.
NOBODY did anything.
I was alone.

BULLIES
Punch, Kick, Punch, Kick
Black and blue all over
We all just watched
Every day it just got worse
Every day we did nothing, afraid that would be us

Christmas Animations
In P7 the children used their design skills to create an animated Christmas Card. They started by designing a background, then they created characters and then animated their characters. After finishing their animations they exported their movies to Movie Maker and added their titles and music. Mrs Black chose Cara’s animation to use for the school card and you can see it on the school website, click here. She had a hard decision choosing Cara’s because they were all extremely good. This card was created by Cameron and Mark.
