staff can support pupils in mainstream settings<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>All our\u00a0early learning\u00a0and\u00a0primary school establishments have a Boardmaker Studio site licence.\u00a0 The Education Department\u00a0purchased these so that\u00a0all would\u00a0have equitable\u00a0access to the appropriate visual supports for children.<\/p>\n<p>Symbols should be\u00a0used consistently to support children with social communication needs.\u00a0 They can be used in various ways, including to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>support \/ replace verbal communication<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>help reduce anxiety using a First \/ Next \/ Then approach<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>create structure through individual \/\u00a0whole group \/ class timetables<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>support independent working through\u00a0individualised work schedules<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Symbols have also been used to make entire learning environments more inclusive.\u00a0 This is an area that the Educational
