{"id":8995,"date":"2021-08-20T09:24:17","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T08:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/Woodfarm\/?p=8995"},"modified":"2021-08-20T09:24:17","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T08:24:17","slug":"bae-systems-virtual-work-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/Woodfarm\/2021\/08\/20\/bae-systems-virtual-work-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"BAE Systems Virtual Work Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The BAE Systems Naval Ships team are delighted to announce three new Virtual Work Experience programmes for this term. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This programme is accredited by the Engineering Development Trust and on successful completion students will be awarded a Silver Industrial Cadet Accreditation<\/p>\n<p>These events are open to 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 5<sup>th<\/sup> and 6<sup>th<\/sup> year students and take place on<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>13<sup>th<\/sup> to 17<sup>th<\/sup> September<\/li>\n<li>25<sup>th<\/sup> to 29<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/li>\n<li>15<sup>th<\/sup> to 19<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To register students or teachers can visit the BAE Systems Careers Website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baesystems.com\/en\/careers\/careers-in-the-uk\/getting-ready-for-work\/work-experience\">here<\/a> and select Maritime Naval Ships.\u00a0We will confirm the student\u2019s place, subject to availability and forward all the joining information. \u00a0All participants will need access to a laptop or tablet to join the live sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who are we? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BAE Systems Naval Ships team design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers<\/p>\n<p>You may have seen our current ship, the Type 26 Combat Ship, outside on the hard stand in our Govan yard. We built this ship in two halves and steered them together in May 2021 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/players.brightcove.net\/3468649950001\/default_default\/index.html?videoId=6252247207001\">watch the video here, I hope they fit!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What can students expect?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On this one week programme students will develop their skills and experience through virtual live sessions and online activities devised and delivered by our apprentices and engineers. From combat systems to environmental engineers, project managers and steelworkers students will learn with experts in their fields, illustrating the impact they are making on the future of ship design and the wide range of career pathways open to students when they leave school. \u00a0Students will work on an individual project and spend time with our early careers experts who will help them explore their strengths as well as school leaver opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to register?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To register visit the BAE Systems Careers Website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baesystems.com\/en\/careers\/careers-in-the-uk\/getting-ready-for-work\/work-experience\">here<\/a> and select Maritime Naval Ships or search for BAE Systems Work Experience in your browser. \u00a0We will then confirm the student\u2019s place, subject to availability and forward all the information you need to join.
