Congratulations to Adam Scott (S1). This weekend at the 2019 West District Sprint and Relay Swimming Championships Adam won a Silver medal in the 11-12 yr old 50 m backstroke and also a Silver in the 50m Butterfly events. As part of the REN96 11-12yr old boys relay team, he won Gold in the 4 x 50 m Medley relay and a second Gold in the 4 x50m free relay.
Congratulations to Rhona (S1) who has been accepted into the Junior Conservatoire of Scotland after her recent successful audition in the French horn.
Well done Angelica (S2). She competed in the World Youth Athletic Games in Gothenburg, Sweden at the end of June representing her club Giffnock North AC in the U14 category. She won gold in the 60m sprint in a club record time of 7.87 seconds, she also won gold in the 200m in a PB time of 26.05 seconds.
Additionally On the 10th of August, Angelica won the Scottish National 100m title at the Scottish National Championship. She won the final in a PB time of 12.43, the fastest time in Scotland for a U15 girl this year. She is now the U15 60m and 100m National Champion.
Congratulations to Lola (S1) who has successfully auditioned for modern ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland starting in September.
Congratulations to Lucy (S2), Natalya (S3) and their cheerleading team “The Jam” who won 2nd place at Scotcheer National Championships June 2019.
Congratulations to Scott McMillan (S4). Scott’s football team, Giffnock U16s, won the Scottish cup on Saturday with Scott scoring Giffnock’s first goal just before half time. Well Done!
Calum Gordon (S2) has worked as a volunteer, assisting the qualified coach, and helping youngsters to get their first try of tennis. He attends Weir Recreation Tennis Club every Saturday morning from 9-10am. He has done this for several months. He helps to keep the youngsters concentration and motivation, he is their playing partner and he helps to lay out and collect in sports equipment. Additionally, Calum runs a profitable business where he creates and sells a variety of props on ebay. Well done Calum!
Angelica Mayer (S1) participated in the U15 West of Scotland Athletics Championships. She won a gold medal in 100m sprint with a PB of 12.94s, a silver medal in 200m with a PB of 26.15s and a silver medal in the long jump with a PB of 5m 20cm. Well Done!
Congratulations to Emma McLennan (S1) who won; team bronze medal U13 at the National Cross Country event in Falkirk, bronze medal S1 girls and team silver medal S1 girl at the East Renfrewshire Schools Cross Country event and team gold medal U13 girls at the Renfrewshire AAA county cross country relay championships. Well done!
Congratulations to Craig Thomson (S5) who won the U16 Scottish Indoor Tennis Championships (Doubles event) at Scotstoun on 31st of March 2019. Craig also recently competed in the worldwide CrossFit Open over a period of 5 weeks, after which he finished 1st in Scotland and 11th in Britain in the 16/17 year old age category. Well done!
Cosgrove Care are looking for young people 16 years plus to volunteer with their child services play schemes during summer the school holidays 2019.
Dates: July 8th – Thursday Aug 8th
Role: The play schemes run Monday to Thursday from 9 am – 4 pm and offers volunteers a range of days and times to suit, however we ask for a minimum commitment of two days volunteering, preferably consecutive days.
Volunteers will be involved in a variety of creative, fun and practical activities: arts and crafts group, music, drama, dance, baking. There is also scope for you to share your own particular hobbies and interests with the children, such as music or sport. There may also be opportunities for the volunteers to support our children with an activity in the wider community such as an outing to the local swimming pool, a soft play area or a day trip to the coast.
