Senior Awards Ceremony 2019

On Thursday 29 August, senior pupils in S4, S5 and S6 received recognition for their achievements throughout 2018-19. Guest speaker , Michaela Foster Marsh, (singer-songwriter and Executive Director of Starchild Charity) opened the ceremony with a thought provoking speech about life and moving forward. Pupils received awards for endeavour, sporting achievement, special recognition as well as subject attainment in the recent SQA exams. Mr Inglis also congratulated all pupils on their achievements and passed on his good wishes for the next academic session. Full details of the award winners can be found here.

Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Neil Gourley, a former pupil, who won gold at the British Athletics Championships this past weekend in the 1500m. Placing in the top two finishers at the championships, Neil has secured his place on the British Athletics team where he will compete at the World Athletics Championships in Doha over the 1500m beginning at the end of September.  All at Williamwood are extremely proud of Neil’s achievements and we wish him all luck for competing in Doha.

Scottish SPCA – Work Experience Opportunity

Work experience placements are aimed at S4 to S6 students and will provide hands on experience working with animals or providing essential support services in key business areas such as marketing and communications, fundraising, HR finance and animal helpline.

Scottish SPCA are currently taking applications from school pupils wishing to carry out a work experience placement in their Glasgow animal rescue and rehoming centre in Cardonald.

They are looking for individuals who have a keen interest in animal welfare and who are considering an animal related career in the future.

Well done Angelica (S2). She competed in the World Youth Athletic Games in Gothenburg, Sweden at the end of June representing her club Giffnock North AC in the U14 category. She won gold in the 60m sprint in a club record time of 7.87 seconds, she also won gold in the 200m in a PB time of 26.05 seconds.

Additionally On the 10th of August, Angelica  won the Scottish National 100m title at the Scottish National Championship. She won the final in a PB time of 12.43, the fastest time in Scotland for a U15 girl this year. She is now the U15 60m and 100m National Champion.
