Williamwood netballers are having a very successful start to 2019. Both the S1 and S2 team are awaiting silver level quarter final matches against Perth High and Woodmill High respectively. The S3 team will be in quarter final action against Lathallan School in the bronze level and finally our open B girls will be in fourth round action at silver level against Hermitage or Loudon Academy. All of these matches have to be played by the end of February so it is a busy time for both players and coaches. Well done on your fantastic achievements so far.
Four Williamwood pupils participated over the weekend in the Scottish Squash Junior National Championships. This event is held once a year and juniors come from all over Scotland to participate in this prestigious event.
Louisa (S1) achieved 2nd place in the under 13 girls category.
Charlie (S1) – achieved 3rd place in the under 13 boys category.
Huzaifah (S3) achieved 2nd place in the under 15 boys category.
Adam (S4) achieved 4th place in the under 17 boys category.

Congratulations to all our pupils who competed in the Renfrewshire Heats for the Scottish Schools Swimming Finals. Williamwood pupils achieved 4 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals at this event, along with 28 top 10 placings. Well done to all, as these results are absolutely outstanding for a group of pupils from one school. This success highlights the hard work and dedication that this group of pupils apply towards such a demanding sport.
Many of our pupils then qualified for the Finals event on Saturday 26 February and performed incredibly well, with pupils from all over the country competing in 71 different events over the course of the day. The Salon, Giffnock is looking for a MA Trainee Hairdresser to join their team. The successful applicant will be working in the Salon 4 days per week and attend Kramer’s Hairdressing College 1 day per week, working towards an SVQII in Hairdressing. A local house builder based in Arthur Street in Clarkston have a job opportunity for an S5 or S6 school leaver with a keen interest in accountancy to work with them on a work/study placement arrangement. The position would be within their busy accounts team full time with study opportunity at either college, university or through AAT. This is a perfect opportunity for someone to gain experience in the workplace plus gain a qualification at the same time. The start date would be the end of the summer term with studying to commence from August 2019.

The HSBC Work Experience Programme is designed to encourage students from different social-economic backgrounds to find out about banking with a view of joining HSBC either after university of after school through the apprenticeship or undergraduate programmes.
