Anthony Nolan Donor Event

On Monday 4th February, S6 pupils will be given a presentation from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service about the Anthony Nolan Donor Event.  Six S6 pupils will be ‘champions’ and updating S6 pupils more in the coming weeks. The donor registration event itself is taking place on Monday 18th February.

Podcast Club

Thank you and well done to all the Podcast Club members who have been working tirelessly to create fun and interesting content for Williamwood’s first ever podcast.  Every week, our club learn more and more about podcasts, pre-production, recording and postproduction with the final goal of releasing our content to the whole school. It’s a long process but a fantastic learning experience. Mrs Harris would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and dedication so far.


Burns Supper

The Pupil Council organised our annual Burns Supper event which took place on Friday 25th January. Conor (S5) piped guests from our local community in to the school before our Head Girl, Catrin and S6 prefect Struan addressed the haggis. The S3 Hospitality team served a wonderful three course meal and entertainment was provided by Eilidh (S4) who performed a highland dance and three solo singers Shay, Ellie and Nairne (S4).

Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Reuben S5 who won two gold medals in the U17 Scottish National Athletics Indoor Championships.  In addition, Reuben also achieved a new championship best performance and age group record of 4m 61cm in pole vault. Well done!  More information can be viewed here.


Glasgow Kelvin College Open Day and Competition

On Wednesday 23rd February, there is a Fashion Department Recruitment Open Day between 9am – 12pm at Glasgow Kelvin College.  The department will be carrying out interviews for the NC and HND Fashion courses that start in August.  Pupils can take their portfolios and interview on the day.  More information can be found in the course booklet here.  If pupils are unable to attend, they can still apply for the courses online and wil be emailed an interview slot over the coming weeks.

Young Singer of the Year

On Wednesday 16th January, the Music department’s annual Young Singer of the Year event took place. A fantastic number of parents, friends, pupils and staff turned out to hear ten of our strongest vocalists belting out a wide variety of songs in order to impress our judges, Graham Duffy and Maree Murdoch. It was a fantastic evening of exceptionally high talent and entertainment. Many thanks to everybody who supported the event, with particular thanks to the PTA for the generous donation for our brand new trophies, and congratulations to our fabulous champions.  Junior winner Holly Johnson (S2) & runner up, Zara Steven( S2). Congratulations also to the Rising Star: Emily Johnston (S1).  Senior winner: Ellie Guevara Rose (S4) and runner up, Nairne Hannah (S4).
