Congratulations to former pupil Zach Mercer who has gained his first cap for the England national rugby union team. Zach, a current player for Bath in the Aviva Premiership, was brought on as a sub for Tom Curry early in the second half in England’s 12-11 test victory over South Africa. This is a magnificent achievement for Zach and we extend all of our congratulations to him. Well done Zach!

On Friday 12th October, four S6 pupils and Mr Cooper had the opportunity to participate in being a Firefigher for a day at the National Training Centre at Cambuslang. Pupils and staff participated in a variety of activities which included a tour of the facilities; removing a person from a vehicle; CPR; hose running; being in a confined space; putting water to fire and also use the breathing apparatus. One of the pupils who participated, Jonathan, said that it was “a great experience and a fantastic insight into the work firefighters have to do daily”. We would like to thank the Fire Service for this great opportunity for pupils and also to Mrs Nimmo, a local resident, who won this experience at an auction in aid of Parkinsons and donated it to the school. Thank you.
