Pupil Photographs

All pupils who have recently received full or half colours for sport will have their individual photographs taken on Thursday 1st November. It is important that pupils wear their individual sports kit for the photograph, for example Scotland tracksuits, and bring in any medals or trophies they have won. They should get changed at the end of lunch and be ready to have their photograph taken at 1pm.

All S3 and S6 pupils will also have their photographs taken on Thursday 1st November.  All S6 pupils should be at school for 8.40am.

Careers Evening

On Tuesday, Williamwood High School hosted the annual Careers Fair with a number of different stalls from various industries attending including medicine, veterinary medicine, law, finance, engineering, film and many more. Many Universities and Colleges were also present, who were able to offer advice to pupils and provide key information about courses such as entry requirements. Pupils also had the opportunity to question and learn from people with experience in the fields they wish to pursuit, including previous pupils of Williamwood High School who are now in further education/employment.

T in The Street 2018

Our highly successful intergenerational project T in The Street is well underway, with us now in our fourth year. Due to the high volume of pupils wishing to engage in the initiative this session we are running two blocks, with our Partner The Richmond Fellowship adding a new dimension involving clients from their assisted living service as well bringing along our regular members from the dementia service.  As with each year our S5 pupils are working in small groups with older members from The Richmond Fellowship, each group is using the central theme of letter writing to focus their own individual projects on. From the first block we have had wonderfully creative projects, all inspired by the personal interests of the visiting group members, ranging from Harry Potter to writing letters in French. This week we have welcomed our second block of pupils to the project, and we look forward to seeing new relationships blossoming and projects evolving from shared interests and experiences. It is clear that all pupils and clients of The Richmond Fellowship are developing key skills and above all enjoying building relationships with each other.

The Academy commenced with a 4 day camp during the October holidays which provided education on topics such as media training and nutrition as well as physiological assessments and coaching.

Art and Design Exhibition

The art and design department would like to extend gratitude to all pupils, members of staff, friends and family who  joined us to celebrate the success of our students at the annual exhibition on Thursday 11th October. The event featured the work from all candidates presented at national 5, higher, advanced higher and photography higher. Over 200 students from the 2017/18 cohort participated in the exhibition. The evening was very well attended and was a huge success.

Depute Headteacher Ian Fisher opened the event. Ambassadors and deputes from S3 and S6 were on hand to welcome visitors to the event and sell calendars. Five hospitality students served iced drinks and homemade canapés to the guests. These canapés were made by Helen Rogers of the food and textile technology department. Our advanced Higher and photography ambassador, Jamie, documented the event using stills and moving image. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved.

The art and design department produced two calendars, one featuring fine art painting and another featuring photography images. Calendars and framed prints are for sale, the calendars are £5.00 each and are available from the art and design department. Framed prints of any final painting are also for sale at £20.00 each. Please speak to any art and design teacher to place your order through parent pay.
