Geography Field Trip

On 30th August, S3 pupils went to Glasgow to research aspects of the Urban topic in Geography. They completed fieldwork such as traffic counts and environmental surveys in different parts of the city. They also visited famous Glasgow landmarks along the Clyde, the SSE Hydro and Finnieston Crane.

Senior Awards Ceremony

On Thursday 30 August, senior pupils in S4, S5 and S6 received recognition for their achievements throughout 2017-18. Guest speaker , Aamer Anwar, (civil rights lawyer and rector of Glasgow University) opened the ceremony encouraging pupils to approach life with an inclusive attitude and strive to follow their career path. Pupils received awards for endeavour, sporting achievement, special recognition as well as subject attainment in the recent SQA exams. Mr Inglis also congratulated all pupils on their achievements and passed on his good wishes for the next academic session. Full details of the award winners can be found here.

Communication Support Service

On Sunday, pupils and staff from the Communication Support Service were privileged to attend a screening at the Glasgow Film Theatre of their film: We See The World Differently. The film was made by the Starchild charity and two talented students from Glasgow Caledonian University to raise awareness of autism in Uganda and beyond. Thank you to all those who attended from the wider school.

Stress Busting Study Sessions

East Renfrewshire Year of Young People committee is running a free stress busting study sessions this term for all pupils. The first one will be in Barrhead Foundry on Sunday 2nd September 1pm – 4pm. A study area will be provided along with refreshments and cupcake decorating workshops.

Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Michael Sinclair (S3) who is an active conservationist, volunteer and wildlife photographer who has been asked to sit on the ‘Let Glasgow Flourish’ Youth Conference steering group in October. This is a fantastic way for Michael to contionue with his commitment to this field and recognises his dedication in this area. Well done!

Williamwood Netball

S1 – S6 netball for both recreational and competitive players will return to action on Tuesday 28th August. Training and match practice will run from 3.45 pm until 4.45 pm in Games Hall 1 and 2. We would encourage our players from last session to return along with any new faces. We look forward to seeing you back on the court. The Senior Ensembles Showcase Concert for the West of Scotlands Schools takes place on Thursday 23rd August at 7pm in the City Halls. Many of our pupils are performing in either the Symphony Orchestra or the Concert Band and last years head boy Christopher Vettraino is performing Kalliwoda’s Concertino for oboe in F major, Op. 110.
