Amazing final game in the chess tournament on Wednesday 25 April after school, as Matthew(S1) took on Cameron(S5) again. Both boys were more laid back and relaxed at the beginning of the game this time but within minutes the atmosphere was tense and exciting as the game kicked off. Queens were lost quickly and the concentration never broke throughout the 90minute game. Well done to both boys for a fantastic match and congratulations to our 2018 winner – Cameron. The prize winners will receive various awards during a chess club night in May – date to be announced soon.
All pupils wishing to enter the individual SSAA Championships 2018. Should see Mr Cowans by Wednesday 16th May.
Zikomo Kwambiri! Thank you very much to everyone who has supported the Williamwood Malawi Partnership in our fundraising efforts this year. We have raised well over our £30,000 target which will allow us to fund the construction of three new classrooms at Ekwendeni Primary School and, most importantly, help to improve the education of the pupils. A group of 36 fifth year pupils and 4 members of staff travel to Malawi in June and will work alongside local builders to help with the building project. All of our work is completed in partnership with Classrooms for Malawi and together we believe that education is the only sustainable route out of poverty. The 2019 Malawi team has recently been formed and will continue to raise money to provide a better education for children in Malawi and your continued support is greatly appreciated. You can follow our fundraising efforts via the school website or via our Twitter account @WWHSMalawi.
