Williamwood Chess Tournament

The first semi-final game took place this week where Matthew (S1) took on one of the best players in the club and the manager of the tournament  – Cameron (S5).  The boys have been practising at home and during lunchtimes for two weeks in preparation for this game.  Matthew had already beaten last year’s tournament winner, Andrew (S4) and amazingly has now gone on to beat Cameron and charges his way into the final as the first S1 pupil ever to make it that far in the competition!

Well done to all players.

The Communication Support Service is running a post school transition event for S4-S6 pupils linked to the service and Pupil Support. The event will take place on Monday 26th March from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. During this afternoon, outside agencies will be available to talk to pupils and their carers about opportunities and support that may be available to them once they make the transition into the wider world.  These organisations include: ENABLE, Skills Development Scotland, Young Enterprise, support teams from local colleges and charities and various employers who will be available to chat about opportunities and options.  Your son or daughter should have received a letter home with more details of the event.  For further information please contact Miss Macdonald in the Communication Support Service.
