Thank you to Bill Clark from LFA, Alex Deng from the Scottish Refugee Council and Mr and Mrs Wuga for visiting the school today as part of Holocaust Memorial Day 2018. Pupils and staff heard moving stories about their experiences and now have a deeper understanding of issues facing modern day refugees.

Pupils and staff from the Communication Support Service at Williamwood High School have been working in partnership with Scottish Charity Starchild which works to improve education provision and to better the lives of children and adults living in Uganda. Many of our pupils are looking forward to attending a Comic Con style event organised by the charity on Sunday 3rd March in Netherlee Church Hall. More information can be found here.
Our S3 My World of Work Ambassadors have recently delivered an excellent training session to some of our teaching staff. They expertly demonstrated how to register on the careers website www.myworldofwork.co.uk and how to navigate the wealth of resources available. This interactive website promotes career options by allowing pupils to learn more about themselves, including where their strengths lie. They’ll see suggestions to help them explore options, from school subjects through to changes in career. You can also search for courses, and get advice on UCAS and college applications, along with information on qualifications, volunteering, and funding. This website will be shared with pupils at upcoming assemblies and we would encourage everyone to register to utilise this excellent resource.
