Weather Update
Due to severe weather, school is closed for all pupils and staff on Thursday 1 March.
All S4/5/6 students studying for SQA exams can access some revision materials on the departmental pages on the school website or past papers on the SQA website.

Michael (S2) is a keen conservationist and wildlife photographer who has recently completed a fundraising initiative by building and selling over 100 nest boxes to raise over £1000 for three wildlife charities (the RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust and British Trust for Ornithology). More information about Michael’s amazing achievements can be found on his website here. Michael is also donating nest boxes to local schools and parks. Michael is delivering a presentation to his former Primary School, Carolside, about his project this afternoon. Well done Michael!

Congratulations to Rebecca Allan (S1) who recently competed in skating at first international competition in Sofia Bulgaria. Rebecca had a beautiful clean skate, landing all 5 double jumps and finished 13th out of 29 in Basic Novice A. Congratulations Rebecca!
Young Singer of the Year
On Thursday 8 February, the Performing Arts Department’s annual Young Singer of the Year event took place in the school library. A large number of parents, friends and pupils turned out to listen to our thirteen finalists. Our judges, Christine Badger and Lynne Fyfe, were delighted to announce the following pupils as the winners:

Medic Insight Glasgow S5 Work Experience
The applications for the Medic Insight Glasgow S5 work experience weeks for S5 pupils interested in studying Medicine at university are now open. Pupils can apply here. When asked, Williamwood is a Reach school.
Applications will be open until Sunday 25th February at 23:59. Pupils must fill out the form by this time or they will not be considered for a place. Pupils will require a a teacher reference of max 100 words and prelim/predicted grades as part of the application. If pupils do not yet have prelim grades this is ok but they will need to email these to miglasgow.secretary@gmail.com by Friday 2nd March when they receive them.
Week 1 will run from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd June, and Week 2 will run from Monday 25th to Friday 29th June 2018.

Congratulations to Eva (S1) who achieved 7th place in figure skating in Sofia, Bulgaria at Novice A1 and achieved a personal best score of 29.64 at her first international competition. This is an amazing achievement. Well done Eva!
