The S5/S6 ASDAN pupils have enjoyed making their own books for children as part of the Communication Unit. This involved thinking about topics for 5 year olds and relevant vocabulary which would engage a young child. The pupils then practised reading their books in class and at home, before enjoying a trip to the local nursery, the Cartmill Family Centre, where they had the opportunity to read their own books to the nursery children. All of our pupils showed enthusiasm and confidence throughout the task, enjoyed reading their books out loud, engaging with the children and reading fluently. They were a credit to Williamwood during the visit and hope to work with the nursery staff and pupils again soon.
