Overall winners in first place were Erin (S1), Ross (S1), Kirstie (S2), Robbie and Scott (S2), Orla (S3) and Adam (S3). More results will be posted in due course.
49 S2 pupils and 6 staff members have just returned from a once in a lifetime football trip to Real Madrid. In addition to several high quality training sessions delivered by youth coaches at the club’s Valdebebas training ground, the pupils also participated in matches against local sides Dinamo Guadalajara and AD Complutense. The team also visited Madrid Zoo, the Parque Europa and other local attractions as part of another outstanding football development tour, during which the pupils were regularly commended for their behaviour and enthusiasm. Details of more photographs will be forwarded to parents as soon as possible.
We are delighted to announce that after an assessment today, we have been awarded level 1 of the Rights Respecting School Award. Congratulations to all of the pupils and staff who have participated in achieving this award.

East Kilbride based with Scottish travel required
This position is suited to someone looking to enter the wet leisure industry. We are looking for a trainee with a broad base of technical and practical skills, willing to be trained in all aspects of the wet leisure industry (Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms).
Example of regular duties include, but are not limited to: installations; maintenance; fault finding and repairs. Full training on all these duties will be given.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in practical skills which they can build on and apply to the leisure industry.
Essential Personal Characteristics
This is an entry level role and so full training will be given. However, we require a positive attitude and an ability to learn from the other engineers and support staff. Due to the small nature of the company, it is a very flexible environment and while the duties outlined are regular, please do not apply if you are not willing to get involved with other duties as and when required.
Personal characteristics we are looking for are:
Be a reliable and self-motivated individual
Have the ability to work unsupervised
Have good communication skills
Ability to work with on-site teams, other engineers and office support staff regarding scheduling, material and labour requirements.
Ability to complete the tasks required of you to a high standard
Practical Skills & Experience (preferable)
Hold a full & clean driving license

The candidate will be required to travel throughout Scotland regularly, and may include some UK wide work.

Congratulations to Andrew (S3) who won the title of school champion in the final chess game on Wednesday 17 May. Although Cameron played well, Andrew claimed the title after an intense but short 10 minute game. The prizes and certificates for this year’s tournament will be given out in to all of the members who took part during the on June 8th at the chess club.
Congratulations to the S1-S3 netball teams who recently participated in the East Renfrewshire Netball Tournament. The S1 team achieved 2nd place and both the S2 and S3 teams won. Well done to all pupils involved.
The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition is expected to arrive back at the school at approximately 5.15pm on Saturday 20 May.
During the afternoon on Thursday 18 May, all pupils in S3 had the opportunity to participate in a masterclass of their choosing. Sessions included make-up artistry, F1 car design, chemistry of the cupcake, Heartstart, maths escape rooms, working with clay, coach for success, drama masterclass, film and video game sound production and a team building class where a group were put through their paces by members of the army. Pupils engaged fully in these activities and enjoyed developing skills in new and engaging ways. Photographs can be viewed here.
The Malawi group will soon be asking pupils, parents and staff to donate a ‘Pencil Case for Malawi’ for this year’s group to take over to the African children. Please donate generously with simple stationery inside such as pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, rulers etc.

The Rights Respecting School Charter has been finalised and UNICEF will be visiting Williamwood for an assessment next week.
Congratulations to all of the primary 6 pupils from Busby, Carolside and Netherlee primary schools who recently competed in a Maths Challenge at Williamwood High School. The event consisted of 3 rounds: a stations activity; 12-card challenge and finally, a particularly energetic relay race. The overall winners were the Orange Circles.
