Music and Events Pathways Programme

There is Music & Events Pathways Programme from Young Enterprise Scotland in partnership with Skapade.   The course is funded for 12 pupils and open to pupils aged 16-30 with an interest in music, djing, events management and who would like to pursue a career in this industry.   Lunches and travelling costs will be provided.  Starting on 14th June, the course will run for 8 weeks; 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) 10am -3pm.  In addition to the practical workshops, delivered by industry professionals, pupils will enhance their employability skills, organisational and communication skills using the Enterprise Life and Work Programme delivered by Young Enterprise Scotland.  Interviews will take place 1st June 2016 at Young Enterprise Scotland Academy in Rouken Glen Park.

UK Mathematics Trust Junior Challenge

Well done to all S1 and S2 pupils who recently competed in the UK Mathematics Trust Junior Challenge.  Overall, Williamwood pupils achieved 19 gold, 39 silver and 64 bronze awards.  In particular, congratulations to Michael Zhang (S1) and Struan Kingdom (S2), both gold award winners who also achieved ‘Best in Year’ certificates.  Following on from their fantastic performance, 6 of our gold award winners will now go on to compete in either the Junior Kangaroo or Junior Olympiad challenges in June.  Good luck to all!


Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Alisa Khalib (S5) and Jennie Yang (S2) who have been selected to represent Scotland at the UK School Games which are taking place in Loughborough in September for table tennis.  This is the second year that the girls have been selected for this event.  Both Alisa and Jennie will also be representing Scotland for the International Senior Schools Table Tennis Championships which are taking place in Ireland in June.  Well done and good luck girls!

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum Competition 2016

Kelvingrove-995[1]On Wednesday 18 May, 34 S1 pupils from the Art and Design department have been selected to represent the school at the Annual Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum competition. Pupils will have the opportunity to tour the extensive collection and select an artwork or artefact of interest to them.  They will then complete a drawing over the three hours duration of the visit. The department has a rich history of highly commended awards and prize-winners from past entries. Good Luck S1!

Parent Conference – Tuesday 24th May 2016

A parent conference will be held in the school from 7pm-8.45pm on Tuesday 24th May.  The theme of the conference is ‘Supporting Parents, Supporting Pupils’.  Parents will be afforded the opportunity to attend two workshops, each lasting 45 minutes.  A copy of the letter issued to pupils can be viewed here.  Details of the workshops on offer can be viewed here.

Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Sophie McBain (S1) who was entered the Caboodle Junior Judge Competition.  There were over 700 entries and the standard was very high.  Sophie was one of the 10 runners-up and will receive a £10 National Book Token.   Well done Sophie!
