Congratulations to the senior pupils and staff who participated in the Santa Dash on Sunday 6 December in Glasgow. Pupils and staff braved the weather conditions to complete a 5K and raise money for Malawi. Well done! More photographs can be viewed here.
Our Christmas Fair took place during interval and lunchtime in The Street on Friday 4 December. The event was organised by S3 BICT and ASDAN classes and S3 pupils from the Communication Support Service. There were various goodies on sale such as Christmas cards, decorations and treats made by the pupils. The Communication Support Service raised money for Scottish Autism and the S3 Computing classes organised the fair as part of their National Qualification. The event was a massive success and all pupils from all year groups enjoyed the experience. More photographs can be viewed here.
Congratulations to Cameron (S3) who has recently qualified for the 3-star white water certification and is now one of only 10 kayakers under the age of 16 to do so. Cameron attends the Eastwood and East Kilbride Canoe Club and only three months after he reached the minimum age limit of 14, he passed the tests needed to achieve this. This is a fantastic achievement and Cameron and his family are very proud. Well done!
This week marked the end of our hugely successful intergenerational project ‘T in The Street’. The group celebrated the occasion with a tea party, with entertainment provided by members of the group – young and old. Representatives from the school’s Senior Management Team, East Renfrewshire Council and members of the older peoples families all enjoyed the occasion. This event gave an insight into the work the group completed over the last 13 weeks. Everyone who attended received a copy of the digital scrap book created over the course of the project entitled “Our stories, our lives, our way”, a memento the group will treasure. The group would like to thank everyone involved, especially Lorraine Bruce from The Richmond Fellowship for making this partnership happen and we look forward to working together again.

Pupils who express an interest will be issued with a letter and draft itinerary containing more information. Pupils can also speak to staff within the social subjects department for more information. A copy of the presentation shown to pupils can be viewed here.
S4-S6 pupils had an excellent whistle-stop tour of London last weekend where they visited many of the main attractions including a tour of the Houses of Parliament, a trip on the London Eye and a West End production of Billy Elliot, the musical. They even managed to stumble across couple of demonstrations which will be helpful for their Modern Studies topic on pressure groups. All of the pupils found the trip worthwhile and interesting. On Tuesday 1 December, the art and design department hosted their second exhibition of the year. The event was attended by parents, teachers, current and former pupils, and was a great success. More photographs can be viewed here.
