Malawi Partnerships and Progress

S5 pupils Megan Amner and Shonagh Joice from the Malawi Group travelled to Edinburgh to speak to the Scottish Malawi Partnership’s Youth Conference on Monday March 31st. The girls spoke about why international partnerships are important and why the Williamwood-Ekwendeni partnerhip is important to them. Both girls were widely praised for their contribution to a very worthwhile event which was attended by 160 people from schools all over Scotland.

Williamwood have also established a partnership with the charity Classrooms for Malawi (http://www.classroomsformalawi.org/) who are helping to co-ordinate plans for construction work while the group are in Ekwendeni in June. More information on the work of the charity can be found by watching this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56xEsw-8YTk. Tony Begley travelled to Ekwendeni in February to determine which projects the group should be involved in and his input and experience have proven invaluable. The school looks forward to continuing to develop this partnership in the future.
