{"id":1059,"date":"2012-10-23T19:54:22","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T18:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StThomas\/?page_id=1059"},"modified":"2014-11-17T12:37:56","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T11:37:56","slug":"staged-intervention-planning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StThomas\/parents\/asn\/staged-intervention-planning\/","title":{"rendered":"Staged Intervention Planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Staged Intervention (STINT) process is based on:<\/strong>&#8211; building strong partnerships between pupils, their parents\/carers and the people who support their learning<br \/>\n&#8211; providing early intervention<br \/>\n&#8211; agreeing on an action plan to help pupils achieve their potential<br \/>\n&#8211; monitoring and reviewing progress and achievements at school level<\/p>\n<p>STINT stages are numbered to indicate the level of need.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Stage 1<br \/>\n<\/strong>At stage 1, a classroom teacher may provide support to ensure that a pupil is working to their potential. This could be something as simple as providing a pencil grip to support handwriting.<br \/>\n<strong>Stage 2<br \/>\n<\/strong>A classroom teacher may already have taken a number of strategies to support a pupil\u2019s learning, however, there remains a requirement for further support e.g. support from a Pupil Support Assistant or Additional Support for Learning Teacher.\u00a0 This is agreed, put in place and monitored by the Class Teacher &amp; Additional Support for Learning Teacher.<br \/>\n<strong>Stage 3<br \/>\n<\/strong>At stage 3 a pupil is discussed at a Joint Support Meeting in the school where a number of professionals from education and other agencies agree on ways to support the pupil being supported. This will include a number of action points which will be monitored by the Management Team &amp; Additional Support for Learning Teacher.<br \/>\n<strong>Stage 4<br \/>\n<\/strong>At stage 4, professionals from other agencies e.g. Social Work, Yorkhill Hospital, Health Visitor etc, work alongside the school to support a pupil.<br \/>\n<strong>Stage 5<br \/>\n<\/strong>At stage 5, intervention is legislative i.e. based on law.
