<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It is with great sadness that the community of St Ninian\u2019s learned of the passing of the School\u2019s First Head Teacher, James McVittie, earlier this week.<\/p>\n
James was appointed Head Teacher of St Ninian\u2019s in late 1983, taking up post in April 1984 in preparation for the opening of the school later that year. He has previously been the Head Teacher of St Stephen\u2019s High School in Port Glasgow.<\/p>\n
He remained in the school until his retirement in 2005.\u00a0 The impact he had on the school community over his 21 years was immeasurable.\u00a0 He lived and breathed the school motto \u2018Floreat Iuventus\u2019, \u2018Let Youth Flourish\u2019 throughout his career.<\/p>\n
On retiring from St Ninian\u2019s, James continued his involvement in education, looking to support the development of various aspects of life in Scottish Education.<\/p>\n
He is fondly remembered by current staff along with former staff and pupils, many of whom have been in touch to express their condolences.<\/p>\n
As a school we are keeping his wife Anne, his children Claire, Stephen and Paul and the wider family in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.<\/p>\n
