{"id":28416,"date":"2022-02-09T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=28416"},"modified":"2022-02-08T22:20:15","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T21:20:15","slug":"wednesday-reflection-63","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-63\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Mid-week Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">9<sup>th<\/sup> February 2022<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m told that the Archbishop-Elect of Glasgow met with priests of the archdiocese this week.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know anything about the get-together but just imagine how he would have felt if all the priests started attacking him and telling him that he was not the man for the job!\u00a0 Well, of course, you can\u2019t imagine such a thing and yet\u2026.that is what happened to Jesus in today\u2019s Gospel passage.<\/p>\n<p>The Pharisees, who seemed always to be against Jesus, tell Him why He is not a good Jew.\u00a0 They think that they themselves have a relationship with God.\u00a0 Jesus, they think, has not.\u00a0 But it was Jesus who proved that He was truly faithful to the relationship by dying on the Cross. Perhaps that huge act of penance shows us that our acts, even our tiny acts of prayer and penance, have a purpose and an outcome.\u00a0 St Josemaria, in The Way wrote, \u201cJesus suffers to carry out the will of the Father.\u00a0 And you, who also want to carry out the most holy Will of God, following the steps of the Master, can you complain if you meet suffering on your way?\u00a0\u00a0 Cardinal Pell, during his absurd and unjust incarceration, in his Prison Journal wrote, \u201cI believe the prayer and support I have received from hundreds of people in Australia and oversees help explain my spiritual and psychological equilibrium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those exhortations make me believe that we should never underestimate the importance and value of each Hail Mary.\u00a0 Without our awareness, it may just be the cause of someone\u2019s spirits rising.
