{"id":28403,"date":"2022-02-02T17:53:12","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=28403"},"modified":"2022-02-02T18:00:36","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T17:00:36","slug":"wednesday-reflection-62","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-62\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Mid-week Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">2<sup>nd<\/sup> February 2022<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">I don\u2019t suppose any of us remembers the day of our baptism\u2026.unless, of course, we were baptised as adults.\u00a0 That, however, was a day of great joy and excitement for your parents.\u00a0 Imagine if, on that day, the priest had turned to your mother and said, \u201cThis child is going to be hated in adult life and will cause you great sorrow.\u201d That moment of joy would suddenly turn sour.\u00a0 When Joseph and Mary presented Jesus in the Temple they probably did not expect to be told of the horrid events that would lead to the end of His earthly life.\u00a0 But Simeon says to Mary,\u00a0<em>\u201cThis child is destined to be a sign of contradiction\u2014and you yourself, a sword will pierce.\u201d <\/em>Joseph and Mary are handing over the child in their care to God the Father. That\u2019s what your parents did on the day they carried you to the baptismal font.\u00a0 You are a child of God, from the day you were conceived all the way to the day when God will call you from this world. You are \u00a0entrusted to your parents that they might prepare you to live good and fulfilled lives.
