I found out that the Jews in the concentration camps were too scared to leave the camp when the Americans (or British) came to save them.’

Max

‘Mala told us that when the concentration camp she was in was liberated she saw a lot of people running and she wondered how they had the energy because of all the endless hours of labour and the conditions.’

Matthew

‘I found that the lady (Mala Tribich) had hope all the way through (her ordeal) and that she gave up sometimes but got back up again. Her cousin was sent off somewhere away from her family and at the end of the war she never came back.’

Caitlin

After the webinar, our school librarian Mrs Baird shared some of her own family’s experiences during World War 2 and also showcased the large range of Holocaust and World War 2 themed books that are available to pupils from the school library.

Many thanks to all the pupils involved and a special thanks to Mrs Baird and Miss Ramsay for their help in organising this event.

To help mark Holocaust Memorial Day this Thursday, a group of S3 pupils yesterday took part in a webinar run by the National Literacy Trust where author Tom Palmer interviewed Holocaust survivor

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

11

post-28375","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-latest-news
["GET
