Further details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/news\/returning-to-school-safely\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils are advised to take at-home COVID-19 tests before they return to school to limit the spread of Omicron. Those without symptoms should do a lateral flow device (LFD) test the night before or on the morning of the return to classes following the festive break. After that, testing should be done twice weekly.<\/p>\n<p>All LFD test results &#8211; positive, negative or void \u2013 should be recorded via the online portal.<\/p>\n<p>Staff should follow the same advice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Points for Action<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>LFD tests should only be used if you don\u2019t have symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>You must not use a LFD test if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have symptoms &#8211; you must self-isolate immediately and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/illnesses-and-conditions\/infections-and-poisoning\/coronavirus-covid-19\/test-and-protect\/coronavirus-covid-19-get-a-test-if-you-have-symptoms\">book a PCR test\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li>have been asked\u00a0to self-isolate because you are a close contact of a positive case. You must self-isolate and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/illnesses-and-conditions\/infections-and-poisoning\/coronavirus-covid-19\/test-and-protect\/coronavirus-covid-19-get-a-test-if-you-have-symptoms\">book a PCR test\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All LFD test results should be recorded via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/campaigns\/coronavirus-covid-19-report-your-test-result\">online digital reporting portal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you receive a positive LFD test result, you must\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/illnesses-and-conditions\/infections-and-poisoning\/coronavirus-covid-19\/test-and-protect\/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-individuals-with-possible-coronavirus-infection\/\">self-isolate<\/a>\u00a0immediately and book a PCR test.<\/p>\n<p>If pupils did not pick up an LFD kit at the end of term, they can be accessed in a range of different ways before returning to school. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested\/pages\/no-covid-symptoms\/\">Information on accessing test kits<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drop-in vaccination sessions will be available for 12-15-year-olds from January 3 2022. Those who have already received a scheduled appointment can bring it forward by calling\u00a00800 030 8013.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/search?q=drop+in&amp;locpt=&amp;ds=&amp;tab=inform\">NHS Inform<\/a> and local health board websites will provide further details of where drop-in sessions are available in each area. Following JCVI advice, this age group can get their second vaccination from 12 weeks after their first dose.
