{"id":28253,"date":"2021-12-01T07:00:46","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T06:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=28253"},"modified":"2021-11-30T17:30:37","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T16:30:37","slug":"wednesday-reflection-58","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-58\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Midweek Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> December 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the late 1970\u2019s I was chaplain at St John Ogilvie\u2019s Primary School in Paisley.\u00a0 I can\u2019t remember what my point was but I remember asking what shape a pyramid was.\u00a0 One wee boy put up his hand and said, \u201cFather, they are square.\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cDo you not mean triangle?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cNo,\u201d he said, \u201cNot if you fly over them!\u00a0 A bright spark if ever there was one.\u00a0 The astonishing thing is that they, like the sphinx\u2019s have stood the test of time.\u00a0 Think of the number of bridges and buildings that you have seen disappear.\u00a0 Think of the number of churches that have been demolished.\u00a0 Man-made structures seem doomed to \u00a0be destroyed.\u00a0 Look at how coastlines, like melting icebergs, fall away into the sea.\u00a0 In the Scriptures recently we read how God wanted the prophet Daniel to tell King Nebuchadnezzar that his precious kingdom would undergo destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Great rulers have been born, exercised authority and power and died only to be replaced by another.\u00a0 Even the great Temple of Jerusalem was destined not to last. Sadly, there will come a day when our churches and schools will be no longer.\u00a0 Not even St Peter\u2019s Basilica will last forever.\u00a0 Only God can build a kingdom that will not be destroyed.\u00a0 \u00a0During the Season of Advent we urged\u00a0 to place our faith in Christ the King.
