{"id":27936,"date":"2021-09-01T07:00:55","date_gmt":"2021-09-01T06:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=27936"},"modified":"2021-08-31T21:44:47","modified_gmt":"2021-08-31T20:44:47","slug":"wednesday-reflection-49","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-49\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Midweek Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> September 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Pope Francis\u00a0has\u00a0established\u00a0today as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, encouraging\u00a0the Catholic community\u00a0around the world to\u00a0pray\u00a0for\u00a0our common home and, in fact, to keep this intention in our prayers\u00a0 up to the 4<sup>th<\/sup> October which is, of course, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi.<\/p>\n<p>In his Encyclical Letter Laudato Si\u2019, the Pope calls on &#8220;every person living on this planet&#8221; to care\u00a0for our shared Earth.\u201d We are, after all, stewards of creation and God gave us dominion over all the earth. So the Pope encourages us to thank God for the wonderful world which he has entrusted to our care.<\/p>\n<p>However we should always remember that we are not alone and should implore His help for the protection of creation. We should also ask His pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.\u00a0 Find a quiet moment in your own garden or go for a walk in the park or along the seashore and just wallow in the peace and beauty.<\/p>\n<p>This year, for the first time in my life, I planted some sunflower seeds.\u00a0 They were tiny seeds and yet, with light and water they grew into splendid specimens. I also have a box and some pots in which I grew herbs.\u00a0 Planting things like that are great for children because they grow quickly and demonstrate to them, the power of a seed.
