{"id":27496,"date":"2021-05-26T07:00:25","date_gmt":"2021-05-26T06:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=27496"},"modified":"2021-05-25T14:13:57","modified_gmt":"2021-05-25T13:13:57","slug":"wednesday-reflection-42","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-42\/","title":{"rendered":"WEDNESDAY REFLECTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Mid-week Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>26<sup>th<\/sup> May 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>I can\u2019t say if it is true or not but the story is told that on the Monday following Pentecost Sunday, Pope Paul asked his secretary why they had not laid out red vestments for the octave.\u00a0 The secretary replied, \u201cHoly Father, you abolished the Octave.\u00a0 The Italians have a saying, <em>Se non <\/em><em>\u00e8<\/em><em>vero, <\/em><em>\u00e8<\/em><em> ben trovato<\/em> which means something like, well if it\u2019s not true, it\u2019s a good story.<\/p>\n<p>So here we are on the non-octave of Pentecost.\u00a0\u00a0 Almost 2000 years ago on Pentecost the Church was born. The words of Jesus were true.\u00a0 We would not be left alone.\u00a0 God would always be with us. And will be until the end of time.\u00a0 Why is it sometimes difficult to believe that?\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 It is because where the Church is weak, the Holy Spirit is ignored and forgotten. The Church in the Western world is not strong.\u00a0 We are not living the Gospel.
