{"id":27474,"date":"2021-05-19T07:00:44","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T06:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=27474"},"modified":"2021-05-17T21:43:51","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T20:43:51","slug":"wednesday-reflection-41","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-41\/","title":{"rendered":"WEDNESDAY REFLECTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Mid-week Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>19<sup>th<\/sup> May 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>I find myself particularly sad when speaking to sixth-year pupils, some of whom I have known since they were babies, that I can only see part of their faces.\u00a0 It all feels so strange and alien.\u00a0 So much of the personality of a person comes through visual contact.\u00a0 Soon, of course, they will disappear from our view entirely as they leave school and move to the tertiary stage of their young lives.\u00a0 Leave-taking for them will have that mixture of sadness at leaving behind the security of the school community, and excitement about new experiences and the adventure of life ahead.<\/p>\n<p>We who have been responsible for their education and formation will miss them.\u00a0 But we can take comfort from the fact that we have shared with them, knowledge and devotion.\u00a0 Sometimes other people leave our lives through moving to other towns or even other countries.\u00a0 Some leaving is freely chosen.\u00a0 Others, by circumstances we know not, may be forced upon us.\u00a0 And, of course, some will be by the leaving of this earth.\u00a0 Our Blessed Lord, \u00a0Jesus took leave of His followers by departing from this earth.\u00a0 The leaving left them sorrowful for what had happened and frightened about the future. Until, that is, they came to realise that He had ascended to Heaven.\u00a0 The dustiness and strife of this world had passed. \u00a0His Ascension to Heaven which Jesus wishes us to share with him demonstrates\u00a0that we are bound together by love.
