{"id":27455,"date":"2021-05-12T07:00:23","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T06:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=27455"},"modified":"2021-05-11T16:54:43","modified_gmt":"2021-05-11T15:54:43","slug":"wednesday-reflection-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-40\/","title":{"rendered":"WEDNESDAY REFLECTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Mid-week Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>12<sup>th<\/sup> May 2021<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last week I was heading to St Mirin\u2019s Cathedral for the Mass of Chrism which is always a beautiful occasion even though, this year, as last year, we were a less than twenty people at a Mass that would normally have had more than a thousand\u00a0 people.\u00a0 What was particularly touching for me on that day, in which we renew our priestly promises, was that on the way, I passed St Mary\u2019s Church where I was ordained a priest almost 52 years ago.\u00a0 I was a little early and in a nostalgic mood, so I decided to pass by the house in which I had been brought up.\u00a0 It was only four decades of the Rosary distant from the church.<\/p>\n<p>When I talk to pupils about those days, they find it astonishing and hard to believe that the tenement in which we grew up had six households with thirty two inhabitants!\u00a0 So, we were never short of friends and, in fact, some of my cousins lived upstairs in the house in which my father had been raised.\u00a0 He actually lived in the same building all his life.<\/p>\n<p>When I turned into the street, the scene of my childhood, which I hadn\u2019t visited in a time longer than I can remember; for a moment I wondered if I would feel sad.\u00a0 Would I remember happy days?\u00a0 Would I wonder what had happened to all those people?
