{"id":25701,"date":"2020-04-22T07:00:42","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T06:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=25701"},"modified":"2020-04-19T13:25:24","modified_gmt":"2020-04-19T12:25:24","slug":"wednesday-reflection-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/wednesday-reflection-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday of the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Week in Easter-tide.<\/p>\n<p>Had you been able to attend Holy Mass on Easter Sunday, after the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Reading you would have heard the Easter Sequence, known as <em>Victimae Paschali Laudes<\/em> in Latin.\u00a0 It is a beautiful and ancient poem, telling a short narrative story of morning of the Resurrection.\u00a0 While it is obligatory on Easter Sunday, it may also be sung or recited at Mass during the Octave of Easter.\u00a0 It invites us, \u201cTo the Paschal Victim let Christians offer a sacrifice of praise.\u201d\u00a0 The Hymn initially refers to the Risen Christ who reconciles sinners.\u00a0 Then, the focus turns to Mary Magdalene, the first to witness to the Resurrection and, as she rushes to the place of the Saviour\u2019s burial, the question is posed, \u201cWhat didst thou see upon the way?\u201d She tells us she saw the tomb, the angels, the shroud.\u00a0 But the tomb contains no one.\u00a0 Christ is Risen and Mary declares Him, Victorious! Being deprived of Mass and the Sacraments, may strangely enhance our desire for them.\u00a0 Our physical absence makes us long for the day when once more we have the freedom to practise our Faith with one voice and one heart.\u00a0 Did you know this\u2026.the Tower of Babel was never completed.\u00a0 Probably too many voices giving different and varied advice and instruction!\u00a0 The result?\u00a0 Confusion, disarray and disorder.\u00a0 When we return to Church and to School, let our enthusiasm and drive be directed towards a unity of Faith, a unity of Hope, a unity of Charity and a unity of Fraternal Love.\u00a0 Then, perhaps, we will encounter the Victorious One and we will experience a peace of soul as Mary Magdalene did.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let us Pray:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lord God, you have made one people out of many different races and nations, united through confessing the glory of Your Name.\u00a0 Let there be one faith in our hearts and one love in our Christian way of life.\u00a0 We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monsignor Monaghan<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday of the 2nd Week in Easter-tide.
