{"id":25657,"date":"2020-04-06T10:46:43","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T09:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=25657"},"modified":"2020-04-06T10:46:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T09:46:43","slug":"holy-week-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/holy-week-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Holy Week &#8211; Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holy Week is most definitely a very sacred time of the year, for it is now that we will commemorate and remember the last week of Jesus&#8217; life on this earth. These are the days leading up to the great Easter Feast. The Lenten season of sacrifice and self-denial is about to come to an end, but this coming week is extremely important for all Christians. The greatest focus of the week is the Passion (suffering) and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the events that led up to it.<\/p>\n<p>To help us continue this journey , Monsignor Monaghan has prepared a reflection and prayer for each day of this week to use with you and your family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>There is a Latin Hymn we used to sing when I was a student.\u00a0 It was called \u201cCrux Fidelis\u201d\u2026\u201dFaithful Cross\u201d and it contained the lines, \u201cSweet nails, sweet tree where life begins.\u201d\u00a0 When we think of the physical torture of the Crucifixion, the word sweet would hardly be the first descriptive word that comes to mind.\u00a0 Yet it <strong>was,<\/strong> for Jesus.\u00a0 It was his destiny.\u00a0 It was a fulfilling moment.\u00a0 And it <strong>was<\/strong>, what he had waited for all his life.\u00a0 A cross would never again be sign of infamy\u2026never again be that which brought about dishonour.\u00a0 The nails are sweet, the cross is sweet because their very existence brings sinners \u2026brings us\u2026 to welcoming arms.\u00a0 So, this day, we love the Cross as Jesus did.\u00a0 We adore the Cross as Jesus did.\u00a0 We kiss the Cross as Jesus did.<\/p>\n<p>Let us Pray:<\/p>\n<p>Father, be our light and salvation always,<\/p>\n<p>and at this time of distress, comfort every heart,<\/p>\n<p>strengthen every will, and flourish in every person<\/p>\n<p>the depth of compassion, one for the other.<\/p>\n<p>Through Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Holy Week is most definitely a very sacred time of the year, for it is now that we will commemorate and remember the last week of Jesus&#8217; life on this earth.
