Today marks 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.\u00a0 The theme for HMD 2020 is Stand Together.<\/p>\n
As well as remembering the terrible events that took place during the Holocaust, an important message from HMD 2020 is that in our world today, we all need to challenge prejudice and discrimination.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Holocaust threatened the fabric of civilisation, and genocide must still be resisted every day. Our world often feels fragile and vulnerable and we cannot be complacent. Even in the UK, prejudice and the language of hatred must be challenged by us all.\u00a0 HMD is for everyone.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Holocaust Memorial Day Trust<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t be content in your life just to do no wrong, be prepared every day to try and do some good\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Sir Nicholas Winton, who rescued 669 children from Nazi-occupied Europe<\/p>\n Please read the Focus of the Week put together by Mr Docherty and shared with staff and pupils.<\/p>\n ERC Holocaust Memorial Day Event<\/strong><\/p>\n A group of S6 students will attend the ERC Holocaust Memorial Event held in Carmichael Hall, Tuesday 28th<\/sup> January 2020. There will be an exhibition illustrating Anne Frank\u2019s life. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 11am-8pm.\u00a0We encourage all staff and pupils with their families to take the opportunity to attend this event after school.<\/p>\n
