{"id":22874,"date":"2019-04-01T15:41:43","date_gmt":"2019-04-01T14:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=22874"},"modified":"2019-04-01T15:41:43","modified_gmt":"2019-04-01T14:41:43","slug":"faculty-of-advocates-open-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/faculty-of-advocates-open-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty of Advocates Open Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aspiring advocates will have a chance to see life at the Scottish bar when the\u00a0<strong>Faculty of Advocates<\/strong>\u00a0holds an Open Day for S5 and S6 school pupils and university students.<\/p>\n<p>The day to note is Monday 6 May, but with demand for places likely to be high, another important date is\u00a0<strong>Wednesday 24 April<\/strong>, the deadline for applications.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the open\u00a0day is to give those interested in a career in advocacy an insight into the bar and how to become an advocate. There will be a tour of\u00a0<strong>Parliament House<\/strong>, Edinburgh, home of Scotland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Supreme Courts<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the\u00a0<strong>Court of Session<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>High Court of Justiciary<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 and seminars and workshops with practising advocates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gordon Jackson QC, Dean of Faculty<\/strong>, said: \u201cAdvocacy is an exciting and interesting profession, involving speaking up for others and defending their rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Faculty welcomes people from all backgrounds, and will be delighted to give our young guests on Open Day a glimpse of a career which could be for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/files\/2019\/04\/open-day-application-form.pdf\">Faculty of Advocates Open Day Application Form<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aspiring advocates will have a chance to see life at the Scottish bar when the\u00a0Faculty of Advocates\u00a0holds an Open Day for S5 and S6 school pupils and university students.
