{"id":2248,"date":"2012-04-30T19:05:53","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T18:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=2248"},"modified":"2012-04-30T19:06:27","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T18:06:27","slug":"talented-athlete-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/talented-athlete-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Talented Athlete Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Talented Athlete Programme is part of a wider \u2018Gifted and Talented Policy for Physical Education\u2019 that considers how best to identify, track and support pupils with a sporting talent.\u00a0 It fits well with our school and authority policy in recognising achievement and raising attainment.\u00a0 Criteria for selection onto this programme are that pupils must be representing at regional level, or above, within their chosen sport and must demonstrate a high level of commitment to improvement as well as appreciating the responsibility they have towards maintaining their academic performance.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aims<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The main aims of the Talented Athlete Programme are:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To identify pupils who are talented in sport and raise awareness that these individuals have significant commitments outside of school.<\/li>\n<li>To support pupils where necessary by, for example, agreeing individual deadlines for homework, tests etc (through Pastoral Support Teacher).<\/li>\n<li>To recognise and celebrate the achievements of these pupils.
