{"id":19853,"date":"2018-05-16T10:58:18","date_gmt":"2018-05-16T09:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=19853"},"modified":"2018-05-16T10:58:18","modified_gmt":"2018-05-16T09:58:18","slug":"vocational-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/vocational-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Vocational Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19854\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/files\/2018\/05\/Cycle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1260\" height=\"945\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Certificate in Cycle Mechanics (City &amp; Guilds Entry Level 3) SCQF Level 3:<\/span><\/span><b><u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">We are delighted to announce the success of our young people involved in the City &amp; Guilds Cycle Mechanics course which is delivered by colleagues at Neilston Trust as part of our Schools Vocational Programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The course offers an introduction to cycle maintenance and complete units involving:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Removing and replacing cycle components<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Cleaning and lubricating cycle components<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Cleaning &amp; preparing a cycle for use<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Repairing a puncture<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Carrying out a systematic cycle check<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Building and Trueing a cycle wheel<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Preparing frames and forks for cycle assembly<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Augmenting a cycle<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Servicing cycle headset assemblies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Changing a cycle frame<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The focus of the course is skills development but can also assist in securing employment in cycle tourism or cycle maintenance. It also provides a real insight into a world of sustainable travel and employment. One of our graduates from a previous programme secured an apprenticeship in the cycle industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Well done to Jay, Kai and Sam on their success.
