This week in classes, RE, PSHE and at Assemblies we will work with our young people preparing for the Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27 January each year.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday evening there is a memorial event being hosted in St. Ninian’s High School.<\/p>\n
It is\u00a0a time for everyone to pause to remember the millions of people who have been murdered or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the\u00a0Holocaust<\/a>,\u00a0Nazi Persecution<\/a>\u00a0and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia<\/a>, Rwanda<\/a>,<\/u>\u00a0Bosnia<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Darfur.<\/a><\/p>\n 27 January marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.<\/p>\n In\u00a0seeking to learn the lessons of the past\u00a0we recognise that genocide does not just take place on its own, it\u2019s a steady process which can begin if discrimination, racism and hatred are not checked and prevented and when we lose respect for the dignity of all life.<\/p>\n Please take time with your children to reflect how the lessons of the past can inform our lives today and ensure that all work together to create a society where respect for life is at the heart of all we do.<\/p>\n The power of words is the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2018.\u00a0Words can make a difference \u2013 both for good and evil.<\/p>\n The Holocaust Anne Frank<\/a><\/p>\n ‘I want to go on living even after my death!
